Croatia has swelled as a travel destination over the past 10 years. Boasting over one thousand islands dotted within its impressive archipelago, getting out and sailing the Adriatic and stopping in the many marinas makes Croatia a very attractive and affordable option for a wide variety of travellers.
Charter a yacht or get out on the water whichever way you can allows you to explore the unique and varied island ports. Still, the Dinaric Alps looms on the mainland where there is plenty of hiking to be had.
The Island of Vis is an old Yugoslavian Naval base and a less frequented port to get away from the crowds. The rooftop bar on the Korcula fort is perhaps not a hidden gem but at least a fortified one.
