Thankfully, El Camping is more than adequate to accommodate travellers that need to stay close to town for getting more supplies, repairs or other city services one needs along this remote route into Patagonia.

We enjoyed our one night stay while waiting to pick up our ownership papers (Padron) for our vehicle from the Registro Civil the next day.

The good

The owner was very friendly and welcoming. The toilets and showers were regularly cleaned and a washing up basin was provided also with detergent supplied.

The bad

The campsite are not well defined so people are really just staying where they like in an open field. When we stayed it was quite full, so privacy is lacking compared to other more remote campsites.

The awesome

Being so close to town it is an relatively short walk (uphill) into the centre of Coyhaique for supplies. A lot of people were of course midway through their Carretera Austral experience so many were sharing war stories of their travels, either by car, truck or bike.
