A crackling fire in a centuries-old French fireplace was surrounded by handcrafted antiques of a similar age. It was a very warm and cozy welcome we received after stepping out of the coldest weather experienced in the highlands this year.\r\n\r\n<div id=\"attachment_23956\" style=\"width: 957px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-23956\" class=\"size-full wp-image-23956\" src=\"https:\/\/slingadventures.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/mount-ashby-estate-fireplace.jpg\" alt=\"mount ashby estate\" width=\"947\" height=\"710\" srcset=\"https:\/\/slingadventures.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/mount-ashby-estate-fireplace.jpg 947w, https:\/\/slingadventures.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/mount-ashby-estate-fireplace-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/slingadventures.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/mount-ashby-estate-fireplace-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/slingadventures.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/mount-ashby-estate-fireplace-81x61.jpg 81w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 947px) 100vw, 947px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-23956\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A welcoming site after running 12km in the cold!<\/p><\/div>\r\n\r\nWe got talking with the proprietor Sally Beresford who with her husband Chris have created this exquisite and all-round authentic French experience. From 200-year-old antique mirrors and her own hand-crafted tables to a gigantic stone fireplace which had required its own passport to be imported from France. We will be sure to book a table first!\r\n<h3>Running Stats:<\/h3>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Distance: 13km<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Pie Time: 1 hour and 10 minutes<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h3>Pie Charts:<\/h3>\r\nFor Pie Time, Mount Ashby Estate had a Beef bourguignon pie served with a glass of Shiraz. With lunchtime rush beckoning we were grateful for a seat by the fire to enjoy a hearty pie, a sip of wine and getting to know the history and future plans of this grand estate.\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li><strong>Pie:<\/strong>\u00a0Beef bourguignon.<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Pastry:<\/strong>\u00a0The Beef bourguignon only has a pastry lid. This was a crunchy\u00a0pastry good for soaking in the rich filling.<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Filling:<\/strong>\u00a0Cooked solely in red wine, this hearty rich beef bourguignon filling melted in your mouth.
