Well Done Sue!<\/p><\/div>\r\n\r\nOwner, operator, head chef and straight-talking\u00a0pie queen, Sue Boivin has crafted a homemade pie-making machine in this remote and kitschy\u00a0township of Fitzroy Falls. With the iconic waterfall lookout just down the road, many would zoom right past the old fuel pumps and eclectic\u00a0roadhouse appearance. But after a walk (or run) through the Morton National Park, a fresh and hot homemade pie will just hit the spot.\r\n\r\n<div id=\"attachment_23972\" style=\"width: 957px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-23972\" class=\"size-full wp-image-23972\" src=\"https:\/\/slingadventures.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/fitzroy-falls-general-store-fire.jpg\" alt=\"fitzroy falls general store\" width=\"947\" height=\"710\" srcset=\"https:\/\/slingadventures.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/fitzroy-falls-general-store-fire.jpg 947w, https:\/\/slingadventures.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/fitzroy-falls-general-store-fire-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/slingadventures.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/fitzroy-falls-general-store-fire-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/slingadventures.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/fitzroy-falls-general-store-fire-81x61.jpg 81w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 947px) 100vw, 947px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-23972\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A warm and cozy place for an award-winning pie in the Highlands<\/p><\/div>\r\n\r\nThe award-winning\u00a0pie was, of course, all sold out on our visit. Still, there are many more pies to choose from, all made personally by Sue herself. The attention to detail is, no doubt, the secret to her success. Sue spoke of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.southern-highlands.com.au\/events\/pietime\/pie-comp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pie Time award<\/a> received only days earlier, proudly displayed on the countertop. She was pleasantly surprised to win the vegetarian category stating \"I'm not even vegetarian!\"\r\n<h3><strong>Running Stats:<\/strong><\/h3>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Distance: 25km<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Pie Running Time: 2 hours and 30 minutes<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h3>Pie Charts:<\/h3>\r\nWe chose the Beef and Bacon Carbonara pie from the wide selection available and Sue generously gave us a vegetable pastie to give a sense to what the award-winning vegetarian pie tasted like.\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li><strong>Pies:<\/strong>\u00a0Beef &amp; Bacon Carbonara; Vegetable Pastie<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Pastry:<\/strong>\u00a0Pastry was divine. The pastry hand rolled by none other than Sue herself.<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Filling:<\/strong>\u00a0The vege\u00a0pastie was filled with flavour. The carbonara was extremely creamy surrounding perfectly cooked thick strips of bacon.<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Cost:<\/strong>\u00a0$7<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Sauce tax:<\/strong> None.
