Which of course was a nice co-incidence\u00a0given today's pie was to be enjoyed at The Scottish Arms in Bowral. Opened in 2007, it pays tribute to the strong Scottish history of the region, in particular, the old mining town nearby at Joadja. This is what drew many Scottish migrant families to the Southern Highlands from as far back as 1878.\r\n\r\n<div id=\"attachment_24026\" style=\"width: 957px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-24026\" class=\"size-full wp-image-24026\" src=\"https:\/\/slingadventures.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/the-scottish-arms-bowral-history.jpg\" alt=\"The Scottish Arms Bowral\" width=\"947\" height=\"710\" srcset=\"https:\/\/slingadventures.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/the-scottish-arms-bowral-history.jpg 947w, https:\/\/slingadventures.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/the-scottish-arms-bowral-history-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/slingadventures.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/the-scottish-arms-bowral-history-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/slingadventures.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/the-scottish-arms-bowral-history-81x61.jpg 81w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 947px) 100vw, 947px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-24026\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A tribute to the mining history of Scottish Settlers in the region.<\/p><\/div>\r\n\r\nBack in the present day, I felt a little desperate waiting out front for this pub to open at midday. However, I was soon joined by quite a hungry hoard of fellow patrons.\u00a0 By 12:15 pm the cavernous interior was three-quarters full and I decided to quickly get my order in. The Scottish Arms runs a mid-week special of $20 for all mains (including a beer, wine or soft-drink), no doubt responsible for the crowds!\r\n<h3>Running Stats:<\/h3>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Distance: 5km<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Pie Running Time: 25 minutes<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h3>Pie Charts:<\/h3>\r\nThere are two pies on the menu. A Chicken pot pie and a Beef &amp; Guinness Pot Pie. The Beef &amp; Guinness pie was an easy choice.\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li><strong>Pies:<\/strong>\u00a0Beef &amp; Guinness Pot Pie<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Pastry:<\/strong>\u00a0Only so many superlatives can be used to describe pastry. Over the past month we've been to all ends of the spectrum. This sat squarely in the middle.<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Filling:<\/strong>\u00a0I have to think back to the Beer, Beef, Bean pie at the <a href=\"https:\/\/slingadventures.com\/destinations\/australia\/courthouse-cafe-berrima\">Courtyard Cafe<\/a> to compare the influence of the beer based gravy. It had decent chunks of beef in amongst a sweet gravy.<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Cost:<\/strong>\u00a0$20 (with a side salad and fries + drink)<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Sauce tax:<\/strong>\u00a0sauce was included.
