Rolling hills quickly take over the scenery and you instantly\u00a0ease into a relaxed frame of mind. The Cafe is an independently\u00a0run enterprise located within the winery. An elevated outlook has sweeping views of this rural highlands property.\r\n\r\nWe got talking to the manager and it seems the vineyard has an uncertain future. The Cafe, however, is still running at the time\u00a0of printing and we hope it continues for some time to come. It's a great location and does some amazing food, including their delicious slow-cooked lamb pie.\r\n<h3>Running Stats:<\/h3>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Distance: 14km<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Pie Running Time: 1 hour 20 minutes<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h3>Pie Charts:<\/h3>\r\nThere was one pie on the menu on our visit and it was a good one. A 12-hour slow-cooked lamb pie.\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li><strong>Pies:<\/strong>\u00a012-hour slow-cooked lamb pie<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Pastry:<\/strong>\u00a0Only so many superlatives can be used to describe pastry. Over the past month we've been to all ends of the spectrum. This sat squarely in the middle.<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Filling:<\/strong>\u00a0I have to think back to the Beer, Beef, Bean pie at the <a href=\"https:\/\/slingadventures.com\/destinations\/australia\/courthouse-cafe-berrima\">Courtyard Cafe<\/a> to compare the influence of the beer based gravy. It had decent chunks of beef in amongst a sweet gravy and the lamb was so soft and tender it just melted in your mouth.<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Cost:<\/strong>\u00a0$20 (with a side salad and fries + drink)<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Sauce tax:<\/strong>\u00a0Sauce was included. Not needed on the pie though.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<div class=\"bg-sling-ref white-text margin-five-bottom\">\r\n<h2 class=\"section-title white-text\">Southern Highlands Pie Trail Run<\/h2>\r\n<p class=\"text-medium padding-two-top no-margin-bottom\"><a href=\"https:\/\/slingadventures.com\/destinations\/australia\/the-great-southern-highlands-pie-trail-run\">The Southern 'Pielands' Trail Run<\/a>\u00a0went for the month of June.
